Women in Finance and Accounting (WIFA) is a vibrant community dedicated to supporting students who identify as women and are pursuing careers in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. Our mission is to empower and educate our members through a variety of professional development, networking, and social events. We aim to foster an inclusive environment where members can connect, learn, and grow, while gaining valuable insights and opportunities within their fields. Whether through guest speakers, industry panels, or collaborative workshops, WIFA is committed to helping our members achieve their career goals and build a strong professional network.

What is Women in Finance and Accounting all about?  

Women in Finance and Accounting (WIFA) is dedicated to empowering women aspiring for careers in finance, accounting, and economics. We aim to create a supportive and collaborative community where ambitious, like-minded students can freely exchange ideas and work together towards their professional and personal goals. Our organization provides opportunities, education, and support through a range of professional development, networking, and social events. 


Is your club open to all ASU students? How can they join? 

WIFA is open to all Arizona State University (ASU) students who identify as women and have an interest in finance, accounting, or economics. There are no requirements regarding class standing, area of study, or GPA. However, members must be enrolled in at least one semester hour of credit as a campus-immersion student per ASU guidelines. Students can join via Sun Devil Sync by searching for “Women in Finance and Accounting” or by following this link: WIFA on Sun Devil Sync.  


When are your meetings? 

Regular meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays at 6:00 PM. However, this schedule may vary depending on the availability of speakers and other events. All meetings and events will be announced on our Instagram (@wifa_asu).

What types of events does WIFA organize?  

WIFA organizes a variety of events, including professional development workshops, networking mixers, guest speaker sessions, and social gatherings. Our events are designed to offer valuable learning opportunities, foster professional connections, and create a sense of community among members. We also plan events in collaboration with industry professionals and organizations to provide practical insights and career guidance.  


How can members get involved and contribute to the club?  Members can get involved by attending meetings and events, participating in committees, and volunteering for various roles within the organization. We encourage members to share their ideas and help organize events, as well as to engage with our community through networking and mentorship opportunities. Active participation is key to making the most of the benefits WIFA offers.  


Are there any membership fees or costs associated with joining WIFA?  

There are no membership fees or costs associated with joining WIFA. All students who meet the eligibility criteria can join and participate in our events free of charge. We aim to make our resources and opportunities accessible to all interested students.  


Does WIFA offer mentorship opportunities?  

Yes, WIFA offers mentorship opportunities through various programs and events. We connect members with experienced professionals in finance and accounting for guidance and career advice. These mentorship relationships are designed to provide valuable insights and support as members navigate their academic and professional journeys.  


How does WIFA support career development for its members?  WIFA supports career development through a range of initiatives, including workshops on resume building, interview skills, and job search strategies. We also facilitate networking opportunities with industry professionals and provide insights into various career paths in finance and accounting. Our goal is to equip members with the tools and connections they need to succeed in their chosen fields.
